The purpose of the Hall of Fame, which began in 1980, is to honor those who have done the most for the North American Buffalo, inclusive of both historic individuals as well as those today, which through their dedication and conscious effort further the restoration of bison.

The administration of the Hall of Fame transitioned to the NBF when the American Bison Association and the National Buffalo Association merged and the foundation was created.

Nominations

Do you know of someone who’s helped support and guide the industry in an
extraordinary way? Do you wish for a way to recognize that special person, to acknowledge a lifetime of achievement and experience that has helped mold today’s industry?

If you know someone who fits that bill — who has played an outstanding role in
keeping the Buffalo industry and its allied businesses among the best in the nation—now is the time to consider nominating them for induction to the National Buffalo Foundation’s Hall of Fame. This award is the only Buffalo industry recognition of outstanding individuals.

Take this opportunity to nominate that extraordinary individual — on behalf of yourself or your organization — whose unique contributions have helped shape the industry.

Each person inducted into the Hall of Fame will be honored with a plaque displayed at
the National Buffalo Museum located in Jamestown, North Dakota. A duplicate plaque is given to the inductee or their family.

The deadline to nominate someone is October 31st of each year. National Buffalo Foundation Board of Directors will evaluate each nomination.
