Mike Faith

Inducted 2025

Mike Faith’s leadership is guided by the belief that the buffalo could bring people together, despite their differences. He helped plant the seed for partnerships among private, tribal, and public bison stewards; partnerships that fostered a united effort to win designation of the Bison as our National Mammal.

Mike once said, “There are times we have to put differences aside and look further into the future. Our grandchildren, their grandchildren; they have the right to raise buffalo also. Our organizations must make a path open for future generations so they can make a way for the Tatanka, the buffalo.”

Mike’s wisdom and understanding brings together the many stakeholders and allows discussions that could be fraught with tension and difference, turn to acceptance, tolerance, and inclusion.

A favorite phrase of Mike Faith in Lakoa is Cante wajinla, Nasula wajinla, Oyate wajinla kte lo. (One heart, one mind, the people will be one.)

Mike Faith is truly Tatanka TaTanka Akicita, Buffalo Soldier
