In 2009, the National Buffalo Foundation began partnering with the National Bison Association to sponsor their Junior Judging by offering a $1000 scholarship to a higher education institution for the top scoring individual. This NBA program has meshed well with Foundation’s commitment to youth education. The National Buffalo Foundation anticipates that some participants will choose to become buffalo producers due to their positive experience with the buffalo industry.
In 2015, recognizing the growth of participants of the project, that indeed some scholarship recipients have gone on to become part of the bison industry the NBF board unanimously voted to increase the first place scholarship to $1500.
